The factors and range of Waqf and quasi- endowment in Judaism with an emphasis on the ancient days

Abstract

In Islamic sciences, Waqf is introduced a kind of donation in which the property is maintained but its interests are used in meeting others needs or religious education. Although Waqf institution and its rules are found in Islam, but it is found in other religious traditions with different forms and rules. The aim of this paper is reporting and analysis of Waqf in thirty nine old books in which religious and social thoughts of Jewish tribe is shown since 1400 BC to the next one thousands years. This paper shows that on the one hand, there is a lot of verses which show that in Torah, mammonism , abuse of wealth and raise founds is blameworthy, and on the other hand, raising founds to meeting needs of coreligionist or other needy persons has been emphasized. In Torah, some kinds of Waqf are obligatory not recommended actions, so taking possession, selling, buying back, pledging and transforming of endowed properties are forbidden and has promised punishment to violators. Human, land, the firstborn of human and animals, first- fruits and other crops, profits, objects and immovable properties endowment are recommended in Old days. Also, there are some verses in Torah about Waqf. These verses are quasi- Waqf and are about donation, charity, favoring, good deed and benevolence.

Abstract

With due attention to the role of mosques and religious places in Islamic societies to providing the best education and training opportunity, learning devotion doctrine, teaching the method of personal and social living, place of human intellectual development, advising and guiding, and a place for proving integration and unity in religious society and also social status in Islamic movement and crusader against despots, it is necessary to study the role of these places in the fight against internal and external threats using civil defense tools and improving its efficiency. In this paper, some of soft powers threats which have direct effects on people thoughts and behaviors are studied and also, some of solutions are suggested to collate with them using people attendance in these religious places.

Abstract

There is a money pot in Iran national museum bearing inscription which show it is endowed in Astan Quds Razavi in Safavid era. In this research, the history of pots which were used to saving coins are introduced, then endowed money pot in Astan Quds Razavi which is kept in national museum is introduced and the engraved inscriptions on money pot are studied. The results can remove any ambiguity in date of custodianship published in Astan-e Quds-e Razavi.

Abstract

There is no doubt that Iran geographical situations have had effect on providing architectural design and buildings. From olden times, Iranian have considered water storage. For that, they have made cistern. Usually, the cisterns are made near mosques and public bathes to be available for people. One of this charitable buildings in Asadabad is Sheikh Ali khan Zangeneh cistern which is made by Sheikh Ali khan Zangeneh, the chief minister of Shah Soleiman Safavi. This paper has tried to study this important historical and architectural building.

Abstract

The ground and building have different residential, administrative and commercial usages. The endowed properties will be given to others as rent or goodwill. Some of events and erosion of endowed buildings have allowed to some people to construct building in these grounds and change it to building ownership using paying land fee to the plous foundation to renovate damaged buildings. Therefore, using a deed of endowment for a building ownership in Amol, this kind of ownership is studied.

Abstract

From olden times, writing and providing deed of endowments have been on the basis of special manner. The method of writing and terminology and definition used in the deed of endowment not only show thoughts and religious, social and cultural ideas, but it is considered in the field of study of documents and is used by linguistics researchers. In this paper, one of the Arak (Markazi province) deed of endowments is reviewed which is belonged to Qajar era. Then, different linguistic problems such as semantic relation between words, writing and grammatical rules are analyzed.

Abstract

Amir Hossein Khan Asem al- Saltaneh is from Mozaffari family in Zanjan. He was governor of Zanjan after constitutional government at the world war I in which Zanjan circumstances were critical. He had high social status and was first for doing charities and religious affairs. He has endowed many of his properties in Zanjan. This paper introduces two his deeds of endowment and the present situation on these endowments. The first document is provided in twenty five lines in Nastaliq font and is about dedication of four and half shares from the whole of a real estate of Tarom Bandargah village in Zanjan which is endowed in 1958. It is drawn up ninety seven years ago and twenty have confirmed it. The second document is provided in twenty four lines in Cursive Nastaliq font and is about dedication of twenty one shaiir from the whole of a real estate of Aghkand village which is endowed in 1960.It is drawn up ninety five years ago and fifteen have confirmed it.

Abstract

Among cities with Shiite residents and having climate such as Iraq and Arabistan, Zavareh is more known and because it is located on route of Mashhad, Alavian preferred to stay there. Because they were affectionately attached to Imams, and due to their moral, scientific and knowledge dispositions and their innocence, the natives gave them a rousing welcome and provided their needs. On of the holly shrines in Zavareh is EmamZadeh Yahya (PBUH). He is related to Imam Musa ibn Jafar (AS) after four generations. Some believes that he is son of the seventh Imam, but it is not true. Imam Musa ibn Jafar had no child by name of Yahya and also if granted all that but there are several shrines in different cities in this name, but they are not son of Imam Musa ibn Jafar (AS). Mir Saleh Zavareh has dealt with this subject in his poems. One of the most important points which reminded us the value of shrine for Zavareh natives is development of teaching, worship and economic collections around it. EmamZadeh Yahya (PBUH) is located in the most important part of city with spiritual purity. In this paper, the author has introduced ImamZadeh Yhya (PBUH) and His shrine in Zavareh and has described that because the natives believe it, it is possible that provide opportunity to abusing. Also it may some of naive people do actions without knowledge and belief supporters, so it could weaken people beliefs and damage native’s interests.

Introducing the first volume of Waqf and Islamic civilization papers collection Sayyed Amir Hossein Kamrani Rad

Abstract

The international scientific conference on Waqf and Islamic civilization was held by Iran plous foundation, Arabia Islamic development bank ,scientists, researchers and Muslim scholars from other countries in Isfahan in 12-13 November, 2008. To reply to paper invitation, more than 130 papers in Farsi and 35 papers in English and Arabic were sent to conference scientific secretariat. Each paper was reviewed by two referees and finally, 80 papers (Farsi, English and Arabic) were chose to publish in Waqf and Islamic civilization papers collection. This collection is provided in three volumes. In this paper, the first volume is introduced which includes twenty papers in two parts. The first section is related to Waqf in Quran and Imams and the second secession is related to Waqf and Islamic civilization and religious and legal dimensions.
