Role of Waqf in Cultural promotion

Abstract

Nowadays, cultural promotion is one of the main indexes in human society development. In each country, cultural promotion is related to amount of other fields of development. But compare with other development fields, on the base of Islamic and religious values, cultural promotion is more important. For that, many factors such as religion, science, industry and technology are important. But one of the factors which is considered in Islam for country cultural promotion is Waqf. This paper is on the based on this hypothesis that Waqf quality and quantity development with cultural promotion strategy are important steps in promotion of country, specially in cultural field.

Abstract

Waqf is one of the general human cooperation which from olden time, is found in human societies and various strata of the society. After rise of Islam and using the effect of Islamic ideology, it has been oriented for Muslims and went down well with the public. Interestingly, for this Islamic exemplary tradition, the Muslim women and men have been equal. They have endowed their properties for God’s sake and benefit of various strata of the society specially poor people. One of the benefactor women is «HavvaBeiqom». In this paper, she has been introduced whom is one of the Isfahanbenefactors in Safavid era. Also her endowed properties are studied which are part of Isfahan monuments. Unfortunately, with the passage of time, it leave no trace of them. Then each of her endowed monuments are described. Key words: Waqf, Safavid era, endowed properties, HavvaBeiqom. Abstract

Throughout history, road construction has been considered as one of the civilization indications.Ccaravanserai and bridge are functional structures to making communication with other provinces and providing national economic and political interactions. In Safavid era, caravanserai and bridgeswere considered because they were key element in business connection between cities and commercial centers. Among them, Hamedan has been more important than other neighboring provinces. So, because of its proximity to Iraq boards and necessity of making economic and political relations to this country, it has been one of the front runners of constructing caravanserai and bridge. This research is on the base of study of Shah Abbas caravanserai and bridge in Farsfaj, Tuyserkan in Safavid era which are constructed to develop economic and political interactions. The role of benefactor servants in architecture and urban development in Safavid era (case study: Aligholiagha collection) Dr. ElyasSaffaran Dr. Gholam Ali Hatam HomayoonAyati Abstract One of the disputable subjects in the history of Iran architecture and urban development has been the architecture founders and their influence on this process. In Safavid period, the founders of mentioned structures were functionaries and courtiers who were king servants and had effective role in constructions and urbanization. Before Safavid era, the functionaries paid attention to these constructions to show their loyalty to king, government consolidation and cooperation in construction of buildings. In has direct effects on the process of architecture and urban development in Safavid era, specially in Esfahan and Kerman. In this research, one of the architecture monuments in 12th century in Safavid era, Aligholiagha collection, has been studied which shows Safavid servants point of view in created environment development. Present research deals with this question: in addition to Safavid kings, what is the role of functionaries and courtiers in process of development and architecture transformation? The theoretical framework for this research is on the based on their cooperation in architecture and urban development in Safavid era. In this research , historical- analytical method is used and data are collected as documents and field study. Endowment deeds of five stores in Zanjan with the intension of Ahl al- Kisa (in Mozaffar ad-Din shah Qajar era) ParastooGhasemiAndarood Abstract Definitely, ancient and handwritten manuscripts are very valuable. Historical documents provide complete information about the past events. Among them, deeds of endowment are important from historical, artistic, social and sociological viewpoint. For benefactors, Waqf intention is divided to two parts: properties endowment to improve the social situations and meeting public needs or endowment to search for forgiveness and blessing and having the best future life. The deeds of endowment are very important texts including Arabic poetry and prose containing unique moral contents and advices. Many of people had devotion toward it and because of its religious importance , it is restructured in different periods. The main goal of this research is introducing Shah Reza (PBUH) parentage, study of reconstruction of shrine in different periods and introducing its benefactors. Review of Ismail shrine biography in Esfahan and study of its social , cultural, artistic and spiritual functions SayyedHosseinHor Abstract In 2ndAH, due to pressures of Umayyads and Abbasids on sadat and alavid , some of them immigrated to Iran. Also when Imam Reza (PBUH) came to Iran, some of them imigrated to this country and many of them were martyred in various cities. People who were concerned about Sadat were prepared grave to them. So, their shrines are scattered in different cities and are known as Emamzadeh. One of them is Ismailsharine whom is Imam Hassan Mojtaba (PBUH) descendant. The main goals of this research are review of Ismail sharine (PBUH) personality and transparency in social , cultural, artistic and spiritual functions. This study leads present and future generations to the education and training role of shrines. Study of social , cultural, artistic and spiritual functions of Ismail sharine (PBUH) leads us to effective results such as pilgrim culture promotion, its effect on social unity, Islamic art developing, religious groups and educational institutes. Graves of Ahl al-bayt in Jordan and Palestine Ahmad Khamehyar Abstract Jordan and Palestine include Levant south territories and many shrines of different Islamic religions are located in this area. Among them, there are many shrines which are related to the prophet (PBUH). It shows that at the beginning of Islamic era, many of Shiite Muslims have been lived in these regions. In this paper, the most important of Ahl al-bayt shrines in Jordan and Palestine are studied. Key words: Islamic pilgrims, Ahl al- bayt (PBUH), Jordan, Palestine, Levant. Introducing the third volume of Waqf and Islamic civilization papers collection Sayyed Amir HosseinKamrani Rad During the history, Muslims have been considered Waqf culture so that in addition to moral results, material benefits have been provided. But at the present in which Islamic culture is renewing and Islamic civilization is developing, it is necessary to pay attention to it. Waqf and Islamic civilization conference were held in Isfahan by plous foundation and Islamic development bank on November 12-13, 2008. Selected papers collection were published in three volumes. The volume I is divided to two parts, the first one is on the basis of Waqf in Quran and the second one is about Waqf and Islamic civilization; religious and legal dimensions which have been introduced in Volume II includes third and forth chapters about Waqf and Islamic civilization; economic – financial and management dimensions, respectively. Volume III includes 25 papers about Waqf and Islamic civilization; cultural- social and historical- political dimension which were classified in fifth and sixth chapters, respectively.
