Nature and quality of Waqf from the law and jurisprudence point of view

Abstract Waqf is an ancient tradition with definitive history which has been studied in Quran, Hadith (tradition), jurisprudence and Islamic legal texts but its theoretical concepts , different religious jurisprudence, legal and social branches are not studied properly. In the other words, in comparison with other religious, legal. Social and historical topics with different ideas and comments, the researchers couldn’t give solution to the current problem of Waqf, so it has remained as a newly- established subject in Islamic culture and history. The aim of this research is to study of Feqh principles and legal foundations of Waqf and also the specifications of benefactor, the endowed property, steward and beneficiary in Imami jurisprudence and axioms.

Social effects of Islamic Waqf in Iran (part 1)

Abstract Waqf is known in Islamic world as the best and historic tradition and has been largely considered by the people, religious scholars and the prophets. Waqf is a pious foundation. Social consequences of waqf is appeared in Iran. It includes different social, cultural and economic dimensions which are related to each other so that its social aspects includes special statues of cultural, economic and learning dimensions. This paper focuses mainly on social effects of Waqf in Islamic Waqf in Iran society.

Haj Kamal endowed Caravanserai in Robat Karim

Abstract Caravanserais are considered as the most important mementoes of architecture in Iran. They are ancient buildings which during the time, they have been developed in economic, politic, military and religious fields. According to historical documents, Iran was the first country that has constructed the road, Caravanserai and telecommunication system. The researchers believe that Caravanserai construction is one of the major architecture achievements in Iran, specially in Islamic age. During this age, some of Caravanserais were endowed by the benefactors. One of them is Haj Kamal Caravanserai in Robat Karim city which has been constructed and endowed by Haj Kamal, Khajeh Fath ali shah Qajar in 1245 A.H. In this paper, the architecture and decoration of mentioned building has been studied.

Two female benefactors in Qajar era in Zanjan city

Abstract Waqf is an ancient tradition whereby a privately owned property is endowed for a charitable purpose in perpetuity and the revenue generated is spent for that purpose. In Qajar era, many of benefactors have endowed their properties to feed orphans, help to mourning of Muharram and promotion of seminaries. In this era, the female benefactors endowed their owned or inherited properties (which came down by inheritance from their husbands) in form of moveable (copper vessels, rug, prayer book, handwritten Quran, candlestick, etc.) and immovable(house, shop, a part of village, etc.). The main goal of this paper is to study of two deed of endowments; Narjes khatoon (for Almaloo vilage in Zanjan) and Khanom mosque in Zanjan (which Jamileh Khanom Zolfaghari is its benefactor).

Review of an endowment deed belong to Sepahdar family

Abstract This endowment deed is belonged to Mohammad Taqi Khan (Montaser al- Sultan) whom is descendant of Yousof Khan Ghorji. He has endowed one share of his estate in Kalaveh. In this deed of endowment, the names of Yousof Khan Ghorji and his children has been mentioned so at first a brief description about them is provided.

Charminar Mosque (Kedar Shah) deed of endowment in Yazd

Abstract Sayyed Amir Jalal-uddin Kedar Shah was one of the learned and rich people in Morshedi dynasty. He was founder of Jame mosque and Abu Ishaq (Isaac) monastery located in Charminar district in Yazd. He endowed his lands, garden, farm, Qanat, shop and other properties to provide fund of mosque and monastery which they are mentioned in deed of endowment. This deed of endowment is written for the first time in 902 A.H. and it shows that this place includes a gathering place, mausoleum, mosque and monastery for Muslims and preceptors. He had many endowed properties in Ardakan, Taft and Yazd which spent for religious scholars education, receiving the passengers, servants, preachers, Muezzin, mosque lighting and feeding of poor people. Final text of endowment deed is provided on the basis of three transcripts and a printed copy.

Abstract In this paper, Sultan Ibrahim shrine, one of the descendants of Imam Musa bin Ja’afar has been studied. This shrine is located in Susan rural district located in Karta village ,42 Km away from Izeh county. In this research, the history, description and architecture analysis of holly shrine are provided.

New approach to architecture of Shahzadeh Hossein shrine in Hamedan

Abstract Shahzadeh Hossein shrine is a valuable memento of Islamic era. Many of researchers has been studied it and different results have been obtained. Some of them believe that this shrine has been constructed in Safavid ear and some believe that it has been made in Fath Ali Shah Qajar era. The main goal of this research is to study of architecture and decoration (ornamental brickwork, plaster moulding, tiling) of shrine to provide information and show the value of holly shrine as a part of religious identity of Hamadan city.

An introduction on “uses of endowments in a half a millennium in Isfahan”

Abstract Waqf culture is an ancient and noble culture and the study of different dimension of deeds of endowment is time consuming. In this book, the author has been studied one of dimensions of the Shiite cultures. Uses of endowments in Isfahan form Safavid era until now (500 year religious and social history) has been studied. This old culture has abilities and attractiveness which can be used by historians and religion scholars. It helps to contemporary benefactors to find needs and endow their properties to meet the needs. The author has chosen some part of the endowed documents as manuscripts or valid copies from pious foundation and 139 samples of uses of endowments during the 500 years have been studied. Because of various usages, a part of document is repeated twice or more.
